Our Mission
Our mission is to say “Yes, Lord!” when called to worship, to serve others, and to grow in faith and knowledge. With the firm belief that parents are the first educators of children in the faith, the Faith Formation Program of St. Sebastian Parish and Epiphany of Our Lord Parish (Monessen) welcome all families!

Our program is available to help nurture and grow the love of God and neighbor that parents have already begun. We gladly welcome parent visitors to our classrooms and events.

Classes & Schedule

Classes for first through eighth grade are held Mondays from 6:30 p.m., to 7:30 p.m., from September to May. Our Religious Education Program is the parish’s effort to support and enrich the faith of students that is taught in the home. With the help of parish volunteers we try to exemplify and teach the following:

  • Spirituality & Prayer Life
  • Forms of Worship & Community Prayer
  • Service to Others
  • Basic Knowledge of the Faith, such as The Trinity, Scripture and Sacraments

How to Volunteer
We are always in need of people to help! To be a catechist (teacher) and/or aide in this ministry there are a few obvious requirements. You have to like working with children. You need to be joyful and positive about sharing your faith. Most catechists are driven by a strong desire to pass on our faith traditions to the next generation. Training is offered for new teachers and the required PA State Clearances, as well as VIRTUS and a signed Code of Pastoral Conduct are all necessary to work with children.

Do you feel a call to work in this ministry? If so, don’t hesitate, contact us at 724-929-9300.

Attention Parents of Children Preparing for Sacraments

All Catholic parents promised on the day of their child’s Baptism to raise their child in the Catholic Faith. As your child grows and his/her faith is being formed at home, so, too, should your child be prepared to receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Eucharist and Confirmation) by attending formal Religious Education.

If your child is entering the first or seventh grade and is not attending a Catholic School, please call the Faith Formation Office at 724-929-9300 so that we may add your child’s name to our records and send you registration information concerning the Religious Education Program.
