| TRANSFIGURATION: The burst or sunburst is an image of Christ when used in Christian art. The other two images in this window point us to the story of the Transfiguration and the two figures which appeared conversing with Christ: Moses and Elijah. Moses is represented by the tablets, which symbolize the 10 Commandments or the covenant between God and his people. The prophet Elijah was taken up to heaven on a flaming chariot, which is pictured here as well. At His transfiguration, Jesus is revealed in glory amidst these two figures who represent both the law and the prophets -- in other words, Jesus was attested to by the sum total of God's previous revelation to His people. |  |
