| PARABLE OF THE SOWER: Wheat is a very rich biblical symbol, both in the Old and the New Testaments. Jesus' parable of the sower tells of the seed which must find good soil in order to grow and thrive. Wheat is also a Eucharistic image that is symbolic of Christ himself. Not only is wheat one of the elements used in the Sacrament, but Jesus himself is the greatest example of the grain of wheat which must fall to the ground and die in order to germinate and bear fruit. | |
