Diocesan Lenten Appeal
Dear Family of St. Sebastian Church,
As the Lenten Season is now upon us, I am writing to introduce you to
our plans for the annual Diocesan Lenten Appeal. During this Holy
Season of Lent we fast, pray and do good works as a sign of our faith in
Christ who gave Himself for us on the cross so that we could share in
God’s life. As God has given us His Son, so we also are asked to
be generous to the Church and its mission. The Diocesan Lenten Appeal is
a yearly opportunity to help us accomplish this in the spirit of Faith,
Hope and Love.
Our diocesan goal is $50,650 - a slight increase from last
year. Our parish goal has been set at $105,000 which would help us
to accomplish the projects that still remain before us.
Unfortunately, we ran out of time and money last year.
We have started the process of getting bids to pain the interior of the
church. The bids that were procured eight years ago estimated
between $25,000 to $62,000 to accomplish this task. I’m sure that
these figures have increased since then. Also, the rectory is in
bad need of exterior repair. Prior estimates were around $24,000.
I’m not sure if they would remain the same at this time or if they would
increase. Our aim is to complete these projects this year.
Thank you for your patience with me and for the many acts of kindness
that you do for the parish. Words cannot express enough my
appreciation for your many sacrifices. Be assured of my daily
prayers for all of you and I hope that we can accomplish the good works
that God has put before us.
With every best wish, I am,
Sincerely in the Lord Jesus,
